Aston Villa could not find a way past Burnley on Monday night, with Nick popeThe well-earned clean sheet (£ 5.4 million) takes you back to familiar territory – top of the Fantasy Premier League goalkeeping point table.
There was joy for the owners of both shooting plugs on display as Emiliano Martinez (£ 4.8 million) collected his sixth clean sheet of the season.
But for the most popular asset involved in Gameweek 13’s penultimate match, 43.5% owned Jack grealish (£ 7.8m), it was a night of frustration and almost moments.
JACK SQUAT
Grealish has now shut out in home games against Sheffield United, Leeds United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley this season, but his failures have often been less of his own than those of his teammates.
That was the case again Monday night, with Anwar El Ghazi (£ 5.7 million) particularly wasted with the opportunities presented to him by Villa’s playmaker.
A starter stuck in a period riddled with rotation, Grealish has the underlying stats, talisman status, and accessories that are sure to make him a ‘no sell’ in the next two Gameweeks.
Thereafter, owners may face a more difficult decision, especially if there is value attached to a player that has increased £ 0.8 million since the start of 2020/21.
Villa faces four of the top seven after Boxing Day and is one of only ten clubs to (yet) not have two matches at Double Gameweek 19, although the featured matches against Manchester City and Newcastle United have yet to reorganize.

The Spurs are quite an appropriate team to mention right now.
Son Heung-min (£ 9.6 million) and Harry kane (£ 10.9 million) have depended on each other’s clinical completion ability to overcome them in a difficult period of matches in which chances have been few and far between.
Grealish, by comparison, has the failed El Ghazi, Bertrand traore (£ 5.9 million) and previously Trezeguet (£ 5.3 million) at the end of his key passes, and none of those players have a non-penalty goal to their name this season.
Ollie watkins (£ 6.1m) continues to blow hot and cold and went blank for the fourth week in a row Monday, meanwhile.
The imminent return of the injury of Ross Barkley (£ 5.9m) may be a boost, as he and Grealish had shown signs of excellent understanding following the arrival of the borrower from Chelsea.
And if the Premier League surprised us and threw one of Villa’s standout matches (particularly the Newcastle game) in an extra double play week in the New Years, then the situation could change again.
Keep an eye out for the results of the Brentford v Newcastle and Arsenal v Manchester City playoffs in the EFL Cup next week, as a loss to either of those two visiting teams could do it, and we emphasize, might – increase the possibility of a double 17 game week for Villa, as a free week would emerge at the beginning of January.
DAD: PASS THE BONUS
Almost out of nowhere, the FPL goalkeeper with the most goals from last season is back on top again.
Back-to-back 11-point shots for Pope have lifted him to the top spot on the goalkeepers’ point table, even though he’s played two games fewer than many of his teammates.
Three home games in the next four Gameweeks, two against the last three, give him an excellent chance to build on his streak of five clean sheets in eight appearances.
Burnley’s goal led a lovely life on Monday, it must be said, with Kortney House (£ 4.4 million) hitting the post from close range, Tyrone mings (£ 5.3m) nodded with an excellent opportunity and Watkins saw an inadvertent effort cleared from the line.
Pope has accumulated 14 bonus points this season, more than any other goalkeeper.
He was also one of the best players in his position for that statistic last season.
If the Burnley goalkeeper turns out to be too expensive at £ 5.4 million, then there are always good Charlie Taylor (£ 4.4 million): Burnley’s left-back has more FPL points to his name than any player under £ 4.5 million this season.
I THINK UR (MISSING) A KONSA
With Trezeguet ruled out and Barkley not recovering, Villa was further affected by the absence of Ezri Konsa (£ 4.8m) last night.
The 10% -owned central midfielder missed this game due to illness, the details of which were not disclosed by Smith before or after the goalless draw.
Matthew cash (£ 5.0 million) and Douglas luiz (£ 4.9m) both will return on Gameweek 14, meanwhile, having served one-match bans on Thursday.
