Rising rap star Chynna Rogers died at age 25.
His family confirmed through his management the news that the rapper A $ AP Mob had passed away.
In a statement, they wrote: “Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.”
His cause of death is currently unknown.
Chynna began her modeling career, signing with Ford Models at the age of 14.
He later went on to work with the late record producer A $ AP Yams, born Steven Rodriguez.
It was when she got involved with the A $ AP mob that Chynna’s rap career began to take off.
When she spoke to Pitchfork in 2018, Chynna spoke about how she overcame drug addiction.
There was a tragedy for the young rapper, although a year after rehabilitation ended, her mother died.
Chynna said she tried not to let this personal setback send her down the dark road to drugs again.
She said, “My mother would be very close to me if I used her as an excuse to fall.
“It’s just one more reason to work and do this shit.”
Chynna told Pitchfork: “Two or three years ago, I felt like I hadn’t been through enough terrible things to deserve to have this as a career.
“I didn’t feel like I deserved to make a living talking about my life because I couldn’t relate to enough people.”
“It wasn’t just drug addiction, but also all of the behaviors that go with it, all the situations you end up in and the people you end up living that life with.”
She added, “Now I feel like I’ve been through enough shit already. Now I feel like I can really talk to you guys about something.”
Chynna was best known for her hit singles ‘Selfie’ and ‘Glen Coco’. He also released the EP ‘I‘I am not here. This Isn’t Happening ‘in 2015 and’ music 2 die 2 ‘in 2016.
The rapper’s close friend, Gianni Lee, posted an emotional tribute to Chynna on Instagram, recalling the past times they enjoyed together.
She wrote, “I remember when we were a few young bucks. Sitting on my mom’s porch eating chicken wings, greasy hands ….. and we talked about all the things we wanted to do.
“Do you remember how we got screwed years later? You are an artist. I always admired how you played with words.
“You were gifted with the pen, you were a true writer. You showed it to everyone in the game. You made me research Edgar Allen Poe and Alfred Hitchcock.”
“I remember we were on the Lower East Side and you were upset that you had to play looking after me so that I could paint ….. So I took these pictures of you.
“I never had to send them to you. I love you man … you are a legend and I know you are happy now.”
