Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has started to review his squad as he aims to guide the Gunners out of the Premier League relegation zone.
The cleanup began when Sead Kolasnic joined Bundesliga Schalke on loan, and Arteta more than hinted that others will follow the Bosnian through the starting gate this month.
Arteta’s team have struggled in the top flight this season but have seen a resurgence over Christmas, beating Chelsea and Brighton.
But the need for reinforcements, and exits, is clear as the Spaniard seeks to stamp his vision on the team now that the January transfer window has begun.
Here’s the latest transfer news from Arsenal.
Gunners aim at the Celtic star
Arsenal are reportedly hoping that Kieran Tierney can help the club find a move for Celtic star Ryan Christie as they look to sign creative players.
Attacking midfielder Christie has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs, including Leicester, Newcastle, Southampton, Brighton and Burnley, after three very impressive seasons at Celtic.
90min.com says the 25-year-old would be a cheaper option than other targets on his list.
Arsenal urges to move for Isco
Former striker Darren Bent has urged Arteta to turn his attention to Real Madrid’s Isco as his search for a new playmaker, insisting that they should not put too much trust in young Emile Smith Rowe.
“I think bringing in a player like Isco with his quality would be a good signing,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“I know things are going well at the moment, but you have to cover yourself. Smith Rowe has been very good in the last two games, but he’s very young.”
“We know that Smith Rowe has stepped up, but suddenly we can’t depend on him for the rest of the season.
“He is young, he has only played a couple of games, but someone like Isco could raise the dressing room, the quality, the forwards will really enjoy playing with a player like him, his creative nature.”
Ace of Dortmund ‘tempted’ by play
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt is tempted by a trade to Arsenal this month, according to reports in Germany.
Sport Bild claims it is another target for the Gunners, although Dortmund are keen to hang on to the German international.
Brandt has lowered the pecking order at Dortmund this season, and would be interested in the possibility of moving to the Premier League, according to the report.
