Mikel Arteta admits his The Arsenal team has “many problems” and must “improve on many things” despite a 2-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday night.

The Gunners took an early lead thanks to a header from Alexandre Lacazette, but were tied up by Michail Antonio before the break.

It took a winner from backup Eddie Nketiah with just five minutes left to play for Arsenal to take all three points and maintain their start to the season at 100%.

Arteta was excited full time but is painfully aware that there is still a lot of work to be done on his side if they are to compete at the top of the Premier League table.

“I am very happy with the three points,” the Spaniard told Sky Sports. ‘I need to analyze properly, because we have many problems that we create ourselves at many times.

‘It kind of reminded me of the game and the phases we played in last year and we let it go.

“There is no structure in the world that can hold when someone has the ball completely free and hands it to the opponent. We have to improve in many things.

“We created enough chances to win the game, but we also conceded chances that were our fault.”

It was certainly a flatter performance from the Gunners than their opening day win over Fulham last weekend, with the Hammers having opportunities to produce upset and taking twice as many shots as their hosts.

However, they crossed the line and on Monday they will embark on their trip to Liverpool full of confidence.

‘What I liked was the focus that the guys had in the last 25 minutes when I could see that they were getting a bit depressed, they brought it up and probably a few months ago we probably would have drawn or lost this game, but today we won it. Arteta said.
