UNITED TO SEND SIX THIS MONTH
Manchester United will try again to change some dead wood this month. But his squad cutting measures could go beyond that …
Sun acknowledges that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will sit down with half a dozen of his players this week to discuss his future. In some cases, like Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, this is unlikely to be a long conversation. Sergio Romero’s one-on-one will not keep either of the two parties.
Jesse Lingard’s immediate future seems set too. United has exercised a one-year option it had on the former England attacker’s contract, although the intention appears to be to put him on loan this month with a view to a summer sale. Sheffield United has been linked and there is talk of interest from abroad, but there is hardly a queue of clubs looking to give Lingard a chance to start over.
Brandon Williams is another on loan this month, though United’s intentions are very different with the full-back, who would benefit from more playing time that he’s unlikely to get with Luke Shaw and Alex Telles blocking his way. Newcastle are very interested in Williams, as are Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury and Chelsea central defender Fikayo Tomori. Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen are also credited with an interest on the United defender.
Daniel James is perhaps the most interesting name of Solskjaer’s six. The winger started and scored against Leeds before Christmas and came off the bench at the end of the win over Villa last Friday. But with Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, both recently recruited to play on the right wing, James’s house seems to be in danger. Leeds remains linked to the Welsh driver, while West Brom has been sniffing around as well.

ARSENAL TO TURN ISCO
Life is sweet enough for Mikel Arteta right now. The Arsenal boss is no longer in the crosshairs, with Frank Lampard has taken his place as the manager most likely to be shot..
Three wins in a week will do that for any coach and a major factor in those nine points has been the appearance of Emile Smith Rowe. The playmaker hadn’t seen any action in the Premier League this season before the win over Chelsea, but his contribution has caused Arteta to re-evaluate his plans for this month.
AS says Arsenal have now cooled off with Isco as a result of Smith Rowe’s form. The Gunners were closely linked to the Real Madrid star and they were expected to make their move this month.
But Arteta has changed his mind, and Sevilla’s interest in Isco also influences his decision.

GUNNERS STILL SUPPORT VALENCIA STAR
Arsenal, however, maintains its interest in Carlos Soler.
That’s the word according to Eldesmarque. The Gunners have been linked to Soler since last spring, and Valencia’s financial situation has made them vulnerable this month.
Soler has been in good shape for Los Che, as the 24-year-old scored five goals and scored another four in 12 La Liga games this season. No fees are mentioned, but a figure of £ 30 million has been spent before.
