That has put Arsenal manager Arteta under pressure at the Emirates after just over a year at the helm.

Aubameyang signed a new contract at the club last summer but has struggled to stay fit this season.

The Gunners have a serious decision to make about Arteta, and any new coach’s priority is getting the most out of the forward.

Tuchel has previously worked with Aubameyang and the forward is a huge fan of the German manager.

He previously said: “He is one of the best coaches I have ever had. I cannot deny his talent.

“He is someone a bit crazy, a bit like me. You could say that his style is a bit like Guardiola’s. In any case, they play with the same spirit.”

“He likes to keep the ball in a style of play that likes to see the ball go forward, no matter what.

“I think he has things. Now, it will be up to him to prove it.”

Gabriel Martinelli has driven the Gunners on their return through injury, although he took a hit against Manchester City midweek.

“He had a scar that wasn’t open and he wanted to try it so we gave him a chance to try and when he was on the field he felt uncomfortable so it was an easy decision to get it out.

“He has a unique energy and a way of transmitting his passion for the game,” added Arteta.

“He plays the game in a different way than any other player. It’s hard to compare him, but what I have to say is, it’s great to have him back.

“Bringing that experience, that fight … playing against this opponent after such a long time, like he did in the first half, is something to be really proud of and happy about.”
