A man was taken to hospital and a south London train station was closed after a stabbing.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Anerley Station in the Bromley district following reports of the knife attack.

Trains do not stop at the station in either direction.

The man’s condition is unclear and MyLondon awaits an update from the Met Police.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told MyLondon: “We were called at 4:01 pm this afternoon (December 7) to report a stabbing at Anerley Station in Bromley.

“We dispatched an advanced paramedic, an ambulance team, two car medics, and an incident response officer.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma center.”

The British Transport Police are on the scene to help, but the incident is being led by the Met Police.

The two affected train routes are Overground between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon, and Southern between London Bridge and Coulsdon Town.

A spokesman for National Rail said: “Anerley station is closed while the police deal with an incident. No train can stop at the station.
“We anticipate that the outage will continue until 6pm.”

The spokesperson added: “Do not attempt to travel from Anerley Station.

“You should use Penge West station, which is a 10-minute walk away, where trains can normally stop.”
