The 50-year-old presenter bravely discussed her mental health battle alongside Nadia Sawalha, Brenda Edwards and Coleen Nolan when the ITV program returned to television screens for the first time in six weeks amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The star confessed that it had been a “really dark place”, but that she had been seeking professional help and support to help overcome it.

Andrea said sincerely: “If this [pandemic] It happened a year ago, I would have been in trouble.

‘Last year, I was in a really dark place. I had a breakdown last year, which is something I haven’t necessarily talked about, but I did.

“If it had happened, it would have been horrible, but I worked so hard on myself and had so much help and support that, in fact, when it happened, we had already begun to calm our lives.”

This is the first time that Andrea talks about her mental health battle on the show.

During Loose Women’s big comeback, Andrea, Brenda and Nadia sat far apart to keep a two-meter distance, while Coleen chatted on the show via video link from their home.

Of her return to the live format, Andrea said, “Can you believe it’s been six weeks since we’ve all been together and seen each other?”

Speaking of how much she missed her fellow panelists, Nadia added: “We have been chatting in our WhatsApp group about how frustrating it was not being able to see and talk about things that are happening.”

Andrea explained that the show had moved from their usual studio to the one normally reserved for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway to make sure they could record the show while they were apart.

“It seems that we are a small beacon of light in this huge empty studio,” he admitted.

Coleen continued chatting from her home while detailing her intricate home study setup that saw her stick a camera to a ladder on her kitchen table.

She explained, “I have a ladder on my dining table with a skirt on top, and I’m sitting on a high stool and trying to make it look effortless.”

While all three stars in the studio stayed away to maintain the rules of social estrangement, Nadia admitted she was “really nervous” about appearing on the show.
