Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that the injuries Richarlison and Allan sustained during tonight’s fight against West Ham might not be as serious as initially feared.
The Brazilian duo had to be substituted in the 61st and 69th minutes, respectively, after Richarlison severely sprained his ankle making a defensive tackle to an opponent and Allan came out of a harmless challenge by clutching his groin with significant discomfort.
Both players tried to keep playing, but eventually came away with the score 2-1, their teammates barely skipping a beat in their absence, and they beat the Hammers 4-1 when Dominic Calvert-Lewin became the first player. Everton to score. Consecutive hat-tricks at Goodison Park since John Willie Parker 67 seasons ago.
Early in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie, the Toffees had lost Jonjoe Kenny to injury after he, too, injured an ankle blocking a cross and then left the stadium on crutches.
“Richarlison had a sprained ankle,” Ancelotti said in his post-game press conference. “I think it’s not that bad, like Allan.
“We have to review them tomorrow. It doesn’t seem so bad to them. I hope they recover soon, maybe by Saturday. Richarlison, I think I can recover by Saturday. “
Everton face Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison on Saturday afternoon and then have a two-week break before a Merseyside derby showdown with Liverpool.
About the cup match tonight and 100% of the start of the team’s new season in general, the Italian was really satisfied.
[It was a very good performance. We did well and [we have] good momentum, we have focus, we have motivation and we keep going and winning, which is really important.“We have to pay attention because [other] games can be more difficult [and] we don’t have much time to recover and prepare for the game against Brighton, but hopefully we can [produce] a repeat performance “.

Carlo seems confident, fingers crossed they can both make a full recovery in fifteen days. We have coverage, so it may not be worth risking Richarlison on Saturday. Maybe even leave it in the bank and use it if absolutely necessary.

I hope they recover quickly, but they may need the magic lamp for that. Vital to recover completely especially.

Does anyone think James can start on Saturday?
Because no James or Richarlison in 11 would be pretty weird

We hope the guys from Brazil are in shape for the weekend, but as Will # 3 says, we need them completely in shape. If Delph can be disciplined, he can do a good job (I thought he did well against West Ham) and we have Bernard and Iwobi out. I’m not suggesting that any of them are as good as Richy and Allan, but we need the players in the squad to step up because it’s a long season.

My 9 year old son went to bed demanding to know what time tomorrow there would be an announcement about how long the two Brazilians would be away!
Hopefully this will cheer him up in the morning because he knows, like the rest of us, how crucial these two have been so far this season.
A speedy recovery for both of you and Jonjoe!
