Amazon’s Scottish warehouse is evacuated as firefighters race to fight hell

Fire crews fought a fire inside the Amazon warehouse in Dunfermline after it broke out Thursday night.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene on Sandpiper Drive around 9:30 pm amid reports of flames on the second floor.

Three fire fighting devices, including a special height unit, were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire at 1 a.m.

Scottish police confirmed that they were also called to the scene to support their fellow firefighters who received no reports of casualties.

It is understood that the day shift at the mass fulfillment center has been canceled for security reasons.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 9.31pm to report a fire at the Amazon warehouse in Dunfermline East Business Park.

“The fire was extinguished by four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and two thermal cameras.

“Teams from Dunfermline and Lochgelly attended with a Kirkcaldy height apparatus.

“There are no reports of injuries. The last team left the scene after making the area safe at 1am. “

An Amazon spokesperson said: “We can confirm that there was a fire at our Dunfermline fulfillment center.

“The safety of our people is our priority and all associates were evacuated safely.”
