Barack Obama briefly showed off his silky left-handed shot on Saturday as he walked through the gymnasium of the former Flint Northwestern High School in Michigan, where he spoke at a drive-in with Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

An impromptu video of the moment captures the former US president receiving a rebound pass, dribbling and throwing a 3-pointer that goes through the net to cheers from onlookers.

“That’s what I do!” Obama yells as he walks off the court, coffee in hand and Biden chasing after him. “That’s what I do!”

The clip quickly went viral in the hours after Saturday’s rally, garnering praise from none other than LeBron James.

“Now you just show yourself now my friend !!” the most valuable player of the NBA finals recently minted tweeted. “That’s what you do huh ?? Ok ok I see. All in cash! “

The gym where Obama casually drew the shot is sacred ground among prep basketball connoisseurs. Flint Northwestern, which closed in 2018, produced a formidable number of NBA players over the years, including Trent Tucker, Morris Peterson and Jeff Grayer.

Glen Rice, who was named Mr Basketball of Michigan in 1985 and led the University of Michigan to an NCAA title in 1989, also played for the Wildcats.

Other Flint Northwestern alumni include two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields, former world heavyweight champion Chris Byrd and five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Rison.

Obama and Biden made their first joint 2020 campaign appearance on Saturday during a two-city field trip across Michigan. The drive-in in Flint preceded a similar vote-out event later Saturday in Detroit.

Polls show that Biden has maintained his leadership in Michigan, a traditional Democratic stronghold that Donald Trump won by a 0.3% margin that averaged two votes per district in 2016. The RealClearPolitics average of recent Michigan polls, taken between 21 and on October 27, it shows Biden with an 8.7 point lead over the incumbent president.
