Two people were taken to Derriford Hospital, one with injuries described as serious, after an accident that closed the A38 in Plymouth.
A pedestrian, three cars and a motorcycle were involved in a collision that closed the westbound carriageway towards Cornwall between the Marsh Mills exit road and the Manadon roundabout.
The images and videos show that police serious accident investigation officers are on the scene and the A38 remains closed.
In a midday update, Devon and Cornwall police told Plymouth Live: “The pedestrian has been taken to Derriford Hospital – the injuries are described as serious.
“The motorcyclist was also taken to Derriford after sustaining an arm injury.
“Westbound carriageway remains closed to diverted traffic at Leigham Junction.”
In an earlier statement, police said: “A pedestrian collided with a car on the westbound carriageway near the Eggbuckland Upper Bridge. Two other cars and a motorcycle were involved in the collision.
“The male pedestrian has suffered potentially serious injuries and is being treated by paramedics.
“The motorcyclist and another driver also suffered injuries, the severity of which is not yet known.
“The road is blocked with traffic queues reported to Marsh Mills. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible. Traffic is diverting from the A38 at Leigham.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact the police at [email protected] or telephone 101, quoting registration number 102 today, September 9. “
