A13 traffic: road closed as emergency services rush to a serious accident near the M25 and Lakeside shopping center

The A13 has been closed eastbound near the M25 due to a serious accident.

The accident occurred between the intersection with the A1306 Goresbrook Interchange and Junction 30 of the M25 for Lakeside Shopping Center and Purfleet.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday (September 13) evening.

More than 90 minutes later, the road was closed to traffic.

Motorists in the area took to social media to reveal how people have left their vehicles in parked traffic after not moving for more than an hour.

Highways England tweeted: “Eastbound A1306 Junction from A13 to M25 is currently closed due to vehicle collision – @EPRoadsPolicing Agreement.”

A follow-up tweet added: “@EPRoadsPolicing There are 30 minute delays in the approach to this # A13 / # M25 incident above the usual 2 mile travel times. Average speed approaching the incident is 37 mph” .

It is not yet known exactly how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was seriously injured.

Anyone planning to head into the area should expect long delays or seek an alternate route when possible.

Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
