Shocking images show a large fire raging through an industrial warehouse in Basildon, Essex.
Reports of a fire inside the roof of a building on Christopher Martin Way were first received around 10.20pm yesterday (Saturday, August 29) and nine teams were dispatched to the scene.
Huge flames and clouds of smoke could be seen for miles around as the fire spread throughout the building, and by 12:25 am it was fully lit.
There were at least 16 fire crews present at the height of the incident and the crews are likely to remain on site throughout the day to keep the site under control.
Smoke is still being produced and residents of the area have been advised to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
Christopher Martin Way is off the A127, just over a mile east of Festival Leisure Park.
A spokesman for the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said at 7 am: “Firefighters are still working on the incident and are likely to remain at the scene for the remainder of the day.”
“The incident is still generating large amounts of smoke. Residents in the area are advised to keep doors and windows closed and to avoid the area if possible.
“The Environment Agency is on site helping with the incident.”
