The images have since been shared on local crime watch pages, with hundreds of people commenting on the posts to express their displeasure.

Some commenters called the bullies “wild rats” after the video was posted on social media.

CCTV footage shows that around 5.40pm, a gang of four ran toward the silver Ford Fiesta and repeatedly jumped off the hood, smashing the windshield.

Two of the gang are then seen fleeing while two others stayed behind to deal more damage.

One can be seen repeatedly kicking the front passenger side mirror until it was hanging from the car.

The four young thugs are said to have escaped in the direction of Daleside Road.

One wore a black jacket over a gray undercoat and black pants. The other is wearing a black jacket and gray jeans.

Another wore a white Puffa jacket with black panels, while a fourth thug wore a light gray tracksuit with a side stripe.

Detectives continue to examine CCTV and speak to witnesses.

Community Inspector David Morgan said: “We do not tolerate any antisocial behavior on our streets.

“All people in Merseyside have the right to feel safe and secure where they live. We know the nuisances that rampant acts of criminal damage like this can cause, and while they were not injured, the victim was deeply shocked by the incident.

“I urge everyone who was in the Northwood area of Kirkby last night and who has seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward so that we can find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
