A surfer survived a shark attack in Australia by striking the deadly creature twice in the face.

Dylan Nacass, 23, escaped with minor lacerations after the shark caught on his leg while sailing on Bell Beach in Torquay, Victoria.

The footage shows the brave 23-year-old Frenchman paddling after winning his fight for his life on Friday afternoon.

Local surfer Matthew Sedunary came to Nacass’ aid after hearing the backpackers scream.

Graham Blade was filming another friend surfing when he heard the screams, so he fired the commotion and managed to capture the shark by following Mr. Nacass and Mr. Sedunary to shore for about 30 seconds.

In the video, Mr. Sedunary, who lives locally, was smiling without realizing that the shark was hovering a few meters away until he saw the clip later.

He said, “When we are paddling and you can see the shark behind, I didn’t know it was still there.”

Last week, a surfer revealed how he came face-to-face with a group of up to 20 basking sharks.

Tom Gillespie, 34, and his friends stayed in the water with the creatures for two hours off the coast of Co Clare in Ireland on Saturday.

The group could hardly believe what they were seeing as they saw the sharks open their huge mouths to suck the plankton.

Gillespie, a former surf instructor living in West Clare, was able to film the majestic moment on his GoPro camera.

“I had never been in the water and had seen one before. The moment of putting my head underwater and seeing the first shark was quite surreal.”

“At first I felt a little intimidated since they are so big.”
