This morning presenter Holly Willoughby held back tears on Tuesday when she revealed that she couldn’t see her niece while she was locked up.
Along with co-host Phillip Schofield and the show’s dying aunt, Vanessa Feltz, who was on a video call, the trio answered questions from listeners.
Today’s topic was “Are you having a difficult time in the running of the bulls?” and a viewer named Rachel telephoned and said she was heartbroken that her parents were missing their young son’s life as social distancing measures forced them to separate.
Holly replied: “I feel your pain, I have my little niece whom I have not met at all, I still see her in photos and she is getting bigger.
“You never make up for that time and you miss them so much.”
Vanessa added that she also understood how Rachel felt, as her youngest grandson turned one while she was recently locked up and was unable to celebrate with her family.
“It reaches me through the phone when FaceTime doesn’t understand why I can’t reach the phone and pick it up.”
Holly announced the birth of her niece, Mabel Josephine Baldwin, last month after her husband’s brother and wife welcomed her into the world.
Holly’s husband Dan Baldwin has a brother, Dominic, who is Mabel’s father, and his mother is his wife Louise.
She said this morning shortly after birth: “I just wanted to share some lovely news with you; I have a new niece!
“Mabel Josephine Baldwin was born this morning at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
“Dad Dominic and Mom Louise have said thanks to the maternity unit there.”
She added: “Mabel, she came into the world just a few hours ago, and she is beautiful.”
* This morning airs Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. on ITV
