Susanna Reid explained why Piers Morgan did not return to Good Morning Britain today despite having a negative coronavirus result.
Piers, 55, was again replaced today by Ben Shephard after telling viewers over the weekend that he had some symptoms of coronavirus.
He had written: “UPDATE: Out of medical advice, and out of precaution for a mild symptom that arose in the past 48 hours, I tested for COVID-19 and will not work on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be morning “.
Introducing the show this morning, Susanna said, “We are happy to report that Piers tested negative for coronavirus, yet it is still under the weather.”
Reading Piers’ tweet, Susanna said, “My COVID-19 test was negative. My doctor recommended that I do the test after developing possible coronavirus symptoms, and I had the right to do it as a government-appointed essential worker.
“I will return to @GMB as soon as my doctor tells me that I am okay to go back to work.”
Dr. Hilary responded to the news, saying, “For him and his family, we are also relieved. It is very good news for anyone who tests negative for covid-19.”
“Piers had some symptoms that they suggested, so it’s really good that he could get tested and that it was negative, so we wish him a quick and quick recovery. I imagine he will be there very soon.”
Susanna added: “Yes, my best wishes to you.”
Ben joked, “Yes, the sooner the better. I’m getting tired already and it’s only the second day, frankly!
