Final Fantasy VII Remake it’s not just an RPG where you will level up a group of characters, gain new equipment and skills, and defeat bosses in combat; you will also have some decisions along the way too. While the decisions made here won’t have any major effect on the game’s narrative, there will be some small, but key, changes that will result from the results of the choices you make as you progress through the various chapters.
While most of the decisions made in Final Fantasy VII Remake will occur in the form of dialogue options, there will also be a few other types of options, such as setting the bomb timer in Chapter 1, as well as a unique situation that is presented in early of Chapter 10. We will mark the options available in each chapter and the result of each according to our knowledge.
This guide now has full features. We will periodically review this guide if more information becomes clear.
Several of the decisions will not have clear results when you make them the first time. For example, you will always end up with the key element of Yellow Flower after encountering Aerith in Chapter 2, regardless of your choice. However, various decisions we create will affect a specific scene in Chapter 14, along with the number of quests you complete, so depending on the party member you want to see additional kinematics with, keep this in mind when making your decisions. decisions throughout the game. The number of the three possible scenes you have watched will also be noted at the bottom of the “Play Record” table in the “System” menu as “Chapter 14 Witnessed Resolutions”.
Some of the options will also affect what dresses you will get at Wall Market in Chapter 9, as well as what quest set you get in that chapter. Wall Market in particular is a very complicated chapter, so we wrote a separate guide detailing how to get the dresses and the other related dialogue in that chapter.
Note that we will skip the more utilitarian dialogue options, such as simply choosing to end a chapter by entering a room, etc.
Also note that since this guide covers each chapter, there will be spoilers, especially for later parts of the game.
Chapter 1 Options: The Pump Timer
Pump timer setting:
Setting the pump timer is the first option you can do in-game, and it’s simple. You choose to have twenty minutes to escape the reactor, or thirty minutes.
- If you select ‘Twenty Minutes’, Jessie will give you an Ether and two Hi-Potions near the beginning of Chapter 2, as a reward “for being brave”.
- If you select ‘Thirty minutes’, you will get nothing.
- In hard mode, which you can only select after completing the game, you can only choose 20 minutes, although you cannot use the items you get as a reward in that mode.
Chapter 2 Options: buying flowers
Here. This is for you.
This is the first option that can affect what character resolution will you see in Chapter 14. Keep in mind that you will end up with the Yellow Flower, regardless of what you choose.
- If you want to see the Aerith scene in Chapter 14, you should go ahead and ask “How much?”
- If you select ‘I’m fine’, read on …
In your case … it’s in the house.
You will get this option if you reject the flower initially by selecting “I’m fine”. It basically seems like a second chance to make amends with Aerith.
- Then you must select ‘Don’t be stupid’. insist on paying for the flower.
- Select ‘Okay, I’ll take it’. make Cloud reluctantly accept the Yellow Flower. As we understand it, Aerith will like this option less.
Chapter 3 Elections: an outfit to suit Tifa
I wonder what suits me.
You will get this option for Tifa through the Discovery Event ‘Finally alone‘by doing all the side quests in Chapter 3. This is the selection that will determine Tifa’s dress in Chapter 9.
- Select ‘Something mature’. by the blue dress of the trailers.
- Select ‘Something … sporty?’ for the cheongsam print.
- Select ‘Something exotic?’ for the black tunic-shaped dress.
What will be
This is a simple binary option that doesn’t make an immediate difference: you’ll end up having a drink either way. It will almost certainly only affect your chance of seeing Tifa’s scene in Chapter 14.
- ‘Something hard’. We will make Tifa love you more, in our opinion.
- Choose “You are not in the mood”. if you want to get another character’s scene in Chapter 14. You’ll still end up having a drink.
Chapter 4 Elections: A Date With Jessie?
Will you be back tomorrow night?
This choice does not seem to have obvious implications. The mentioned date will never take place due to events in history. From what we understand, you can choose the one you prefer.
Chapter 8 Elections: Side quests for an outfit
Chapter 8 does not have any dialog or other simple options like the previous chapters. However, the number of side quests you complete here will determine Aerith’s dress on Wall Market once you get to the next chapter.
Chapter 9 Elections: Adventures in the Wall Market
Chapter 9 has by far the most options of anyone in the game. We go into detail in this chapter at the link above, as well as in our secondary search guide, but we will give a high level overview here. Many of the options here will decide which pair of side quests you get in the later half of the chapter, be it two for Madam M or two for Chocobo Sam:
Missions of Mrs. M
- The price of theft
- Cutting counterattack
Chocobo Sam Missions
- The party never stops
- A body of dynamite
The girl we are looking for …
This is the first of many options in Chapter 9 that will affect which pair of missions you get at the end of the chapter.
- Select ‘She is in good shape’. for +1 chance to get Sam’s missions.
- Select “She is a great fighter”. no increase for Madame M or Sam missions.
- Otherwise, select ‘She is excellent at handling books’. for +1 chance to get Madame M’s missions
Spend the night?
This is a minor option that is apparently optional and also affects which pair of quests you will get later in the chapter.
- If you select ‘… No thanks’ you will get +1 chance for Sam’s quests.
- If you select ‘How much’, you will get +1 chance for Madam M’s missions.
- If you select ‘Roll Back’ or ignore the innkeeper, you will have no effect on the pair of missions you will get.
According to Johnny?
While the optional ‘Vagabond Johnny’ Discovery event may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, this event also affects which pair of quests you end up getting later in Chapter 9. Whether it’s likely to be a requirement for the trophy as well. The Johnny Experience.
- If you want to get both Chocobo Sam missions, choose “Yes”. This will give you +1 point for Sam.
- If you want to get both Madame M’s quests but still want to meet Johnny (for the trophy), choose ‘No’. You will not earn points for either Madame M or Sam.
- Of course, not meeting Johnny won’t have a net effect on Sam or Madam M.
Face or crown? – Sam’s coin toss
Basically, the choice here is not whether you select Heads or Tails, but rather whether you are willing to bet or not. Therefore, the choice is broken down as follows:
- Select ‘Face’ or ‘Tail’ to get +1.5 points to get Chocobo Sam missions.
- Otherwise, select ‘No deal’. for +0.5 points to get the Chocobo Sam missions.
Choose which course? – Mrs. M’s massage course
Choose the right Massage course It’s another important Wall Market pick that affects the set of side quests you end up getting in the later part of the chapter. You’ll also get a different scene depending on your choice, and the more expensive ones seem to be more cloud-friendly.
- Choose the Deluxe Course to maximize your chances of getting both Madame M missions, you will get +2 points.
- Second, choose the standard course for only +1 points in Madame M’s missions.
- Finally, choose the poor man’s course so as not to earn points in Mrs. M’s missions.
What is Aerith’s outfit like?
While this may seem like an option geared towards building affinity with Aerith, it’s actually one of the last to determine with the missions you get.
- ‘Okay’ will give you +1 point for Chocobo Sam.
- “It seems comfortable.” You will receive a sarcastic but playful comment in response. This has no net effect.
- Does it matter what I think? it must be selected if you want to get both Madame M missions, you will get +1 points for her.
Mysterious drink taste?
This is the last option that affects which pair of quests you’ll get in Chapter 9, or you can simply ignore it if you want (which we’ve accidentally done in some of our Chapter 9 games). Johnny will say that the drink will help in the next few fights, but you will have to choose whether or not to trust him.
- “I will prove it.” You will get +1 points for Chocobo Sam.
- “I do not need that”. Cloud will skip the option of drinking the drink. This is the same as ignoring it, meaning no points at all.
What is that situation?
This question is clearly a throwback to Final Fantasy VII where Don Corneo asked basically the same thing. This is likely to be simply a tribute and has no far-reaching implications. And you will end up in the sewer no matter what you select.
- For what it’s worth, ‘When they think they’ve already won.’ is the answer Don is looking for.
- Exceptionally, this selection can really timed out, forcing Don to pull the lever that leads to the sewers if he simply refuses to make a decision.
Chapter 10 Elections: Aerith or Tifa ?:
Checking Tifa or Aerith in the sewers
While it is not explicitly listed as an option in the game, you will get a unique scene depending on which party member you first register with between Tifa and Aerith at the beginning of the chapter. In the original game, any of the characters you reviewed first earned additional points for their “affection” for Cloud, while the other obtained negative points. It’s the same here, but it leads to the Chapter 14 resolution scene – so just check the one you want to have as Cloud more. The member of the group you register with first gets +1 point for viewing your resolution scene later.
Chapter 12 Elections: Final Moments
Don’t let it be for nothing.
Similar to Jessie’s choice at the end of Chapter 4, the choice she made for Biggs while climbing the Sector 7 Pillar has no obvious consequences that we are aware of. Just select the one you prefer.
Chapter 14 Resolution Scene
At the beginning of Chapter 14, you will meet a member of the group in the garden of Aerith’s house and you will see a small scene. The game record of the game will entitle you “Chapter 14 Resolution‘scene, and will actually record how many of the three possible options you have seen. So, in a similar way to the Gold Saucer date scene in the original game, this scene is the consequence of what you’ve done in the game so far.
Tifa, Aerith and even Barret have scenes here. The main factor determining which scene you’ll see is how many missions you completed with Tifa in Chapter 3, how many missions you did with Aerith in Chapter 8, and finally which girl you entered first at the beginning of Chapter 10 in The Sewer. If you accept the Flower and the drink before you can also play an important role.
You will earn 2 points for each mission you complete while associated with Aerith or Tifa. Since both Chapter 3 and Chapter 8 have six missions, this would mean that the election in the Sewer at the beginning of Chapter 10 acts as the tiebreaker.
Since Barret has no chance of earning ‘points’ before this moment, we were able to force his scene by rejecting both the Flower in Chapter 2, the drink in Chapter 3, and skipping most side quests in Chapters 3 and 8 You will get your scene if you can’t get more than 5 points for any of the other two (that is, if you only do one or two missions for each one).
Chapter 16 Options: Elevator or Stairs
Take the elevator or the stairs?
Similar to climbing the Shinra Building in the original, you will have the option of taking the emergency staircase to the upper floors, or simply using the elevator. In the original, there were a few items to pick up in the stairwell, so there was actually some benefit in doing the tedium and climbing the stairs to the bottom.
In this remake, there doesn’t seem to be any particular reason to climb the stairs here, except potentially to witness some humorous jokes between Tifa, Cloud, and Barret. There’s also a unique piece of dynamic music that changes as you get closer to defeating the epic ‘boss battle’ consisting of 59 floors of stair climbing. The scene of the stairs is more fun and it is about Cloud, Tifa and Barret.
If you decide instead to take the elevator, you will fight a couple of short battles and witness some short scenes that will give you a little more information about the Shinra company and the people who work there. Both are valid: the stairs are a classic version of the FF7 moment, but in the end, taking the elevator will take you to the top much faster, and it’s the route we generally suggest.
Give Hart 10,000 GIL ?:
If you talk to Hart after talking to Mayor Domino (Best!), He’ll ask you to give him 10,000 gil for a clue. Go ahead and hit the gil for a useless hint, but you’ll also get the EKG cannon for Barret, making it all worthwhile.
Chapter 18 Options: Join allies
A final consequence of the choices you have made throughout the game will manifest itself during the fight with the final boss. After a brief season fighting Cloud alone, the order in which your party members unite to help out in battle will depend on the choices you’ve made before the game’s climax.
