However, it is forecast that there will be a full moon, which means that the sky will be swept away by light, reducing the chance of seeing the shower.

Instead, stargazers are urged to look up into the sky later this afternoon or tomorrow to take a look at the screen.

What is the Eta Aquariid meteor shower?

Meteorites date back to the comet! P / Halley, better known as Halley’s Comet.

Meteorites are fragments of space rocks and debris that have come loose from the ruined comet.

To have a better chance of seeing them, there must be a light and dark sky.

The US space agency NASA said: ‘When comets get close to the sun, they leave a dusty trail behind them.

‘Meteors come from remnants of cometary particles and fragments of broken asteroids.

“Every year, Earth passes through these rubble trails, allowing parts to collide with our atmosphere, where they disintegrate to create fiery, colorful streaks in the sky.”

NASA said meteors will be visible in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
