Odion Ighalo has predicted teammate forward Mason Greenwood to become a very important player for Manchester United in the next two to three seasons.
Greenwood has enjoyed an innovative season for the Red Devils, with the teenager having scored 12 goals in all competitions for the senior team.
Despite Greenwood’s form and fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford, United needed to bring in more firepower in January as he was too dependent on his rising stars after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer.
That’s where Ighalo came in, joining on loan from the Chinese side of Shanghai Shenua until the end of the season.
And the Nigerian striker has not disappointed, having scored four goals in three starts for the club he supported as a child.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the impact the 30-year veteran has had on youngsters like Greenwood, who Ighalo says has a bright future at Old Trafford.
“He is very young and exciting. Very good player, left and right, he can shoot and score goals,” Ighalo said of Greenwood during a Live appearance of Instagram.
“He is a player for Man United’s future. He is doing well now, but in two or three years he will do very, very well.”
Ighalo also spoke about Paul Pogba, who was approaching to regain his fitness before the coronavirus pandemic halted the soccer season.

Pogba has been linked to a move from United this summer, either back to his old club Juventus or longtime suitors Real Madrid or Paris-Saint Germain.
But Ighalo says the midfielder is a positive influence on the team and wants to see him soon in a United jersey.
“He’s a good guy,” said Ighalo. “A good player. He laughs with everyone. He is a very good guy.”
“Hopefully he’ll come back from his injury soon to start running.”
