Kate Garraway has given fans an update on her husband Derek Draper’s condition as she continues to fight the coronavirus.
Joining the applause for caregivers on Thursday night, the Good Morning Britain presenter shared an Instagram video of herself applauding with her family, writing that they have “so much to be thankful for tonight.”
‘Derek is still with us, but what a battle it is. Also very grateful for our amazing NHS that does so much for Derek every day, ‘wrote Kate, 52, in a long title.
Hours after his appearance on Friday morning, his GMB co-hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh gave another update, revealing that Blair’s former adviser Derek, also 52, remains unresponsive.

On Good Morning Britain, after Ben read Kate’s tweet, he said, “ It’s a terrible time and I think he’s at home with two kids and trying to keep it going. It is a total unknown. But as she said, while he is here there is absolute hope.
He continued: “Twenty-four hours at a time and she aptly noted, he is receiving extraordinary attention, she has an opportunity to call in the evenings and speak to him.
Ranvi reiterated that he still can’t respond: “He’s not responding yet, I don’t think so,” before Ben joked, “That’s pretty normal with Kate!”
In the original Thursday night post that Ben read, Kate wrote, “ Wonderful to see all the support for them and our key workers every Thursday. We can’t thank you enough, can we? Very valiant,’

The video showed Kate knocking on pots and pans on the door of her London home, before turning to look at the camera with a smile on her face.
Last Friday, Kate’s co-host on Good Morning Britain, Ben revealed that Derek, 52, was in a coma in intensive care after contracting the virus.

Kate shared another heartbreaking update with fans on her Club Garraway Wellbeing website last week as she thanked them for their messages of support.
The presenter praised the NHS staff for their incredible care of her husband, as he remains in a “deeply critical condition”.
Kate wrote: ‘You may have seen in recent weeks that my husband Derek has been seriously ill in the hospital with COVID-19.
In our thoughts: The Good Morning Britain presenter, 52, visited Twitter on Wednesday to respond to a fan whose mother lights a candle for Derek every night.
“I am afraid he remains in a very critical condition and is very sick, but he is still alive, so there is hope.”
“It is still an extremely worrying time for all of us and the past two weeks have been the most difficult of my life.”
Kate once again praised the NHS staff for their amazing job taking care of her husband, and thanked her fans for sending their own good wishes.

‘Sending so much love and support to the thousands who have had that hope for their loved ones robbed by this horrible disease. You are not alone and I hope that helps you resist the torture of pain.
‘I wanted to send a huge thank you to all of you who have sent me such wonderful messages wishing Derek the best. It has meant the world to me.
Heartbreak: Last Friday, Kate’s Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard revealed that Derek was in a coma in intensive care after contracting the virus.
“I am sorry that I was unable to respond to you individually as I am sure you will understand that I am focusing on my family and Derek right now.”
On Friday, Good Morning Britain host Ben shared another update on Derek’s condition on behalf of his colleague Kate.
The night before, Kate had written in a post about her husband: “He is still seriously ill in intensive care, but where there is life there is hope.”
Speaking more about the condition of Blair’s former aide, Ben revealed to the public, “ He’s been able to speak to Derek at night, in a coma. You have been able to share music with him, talk to him.
Ben continued: ‘She has been able to speak to him, just to support him. A little peace of mind [to him] hearing your voice.
Kate also sent her thanks, through the show, to fans who sent messages of support and admitted that they have been a great source of comfort to her.
He said, “ She said she also relayed the messages you sent to Derek so that he has an idea of the support and positivity of all of you …
“He can’t answer everyone, but in the quieter moments when he has 10 minutes, he can get around and the support he’s getting from them is really helpful … It’s really difficult.” It is really difficult because, as she said, he is critically ill.
