Anthony Martial suffered a suspected knee injury in the second half of France’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Kazakhstan on Sunday.
Didier Deschamps, 25, was removed just before the scheduled time, having initially continued after receiving treatment.
Manchester United await news on the severity of Martial’s injury and will publish an update on his status in due course.
The injury represented a change of fortune for the attacker, who had a major influence on France’s victory by contributing a first-half assist for Ousmane Dembélé’s opener.
Martial’s Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba also played against Kazakhstan and was replaced by Adrien Rabiot in the 59th minute.
An own goal by Serhiy Malyi a minute before half-time confirmed the victory for the reigning world champions, and Deschamp’s side will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in their next match on Wednesday.
‘Pogba needs playing time to find the best form’
Deschamps says Pogba needs regular playing time to rediscover his best form after a period on the sidelines.
Pogba missed 10 games for United after suffering a hamstring injury in February, but returned to action this month and helped the Premier League team reach the Europa League quarter-finals with the goal. of victory in the 1-0 win against AC Milan.
He also came off the bench in France’s 1-1 draw with Ukraine in their 2022 World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday before playing an hour against Kazakhstan on Sunday.
“He’s not on top of his game, that’s for sure,” Deschamps said. “When he came off the bench against Ukraine, we weren’t having our best moment. But obviously those 30 minutes were good for him.”
