Tottenham goalkeeper Joe Hart apologized to fans after a post saying “work done” was posted to his Instagram account on Thursday night following a 3-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb.
Spurs blew a 2-0 lead in the first leg to lose the Europa League round of 16 tie 3-2 on aggregate in Zagreb following an inspired hat-trick by Mislav Orsic.
After the game, Spurs coach José Mourinho gave an honest assessment of Tottenham’s performance and apologized to fans for another sub-par performance.
But Tottenham fans noted that a post-match message on Hart’s Instagram account story, which has since been removed, read “work done” along with a green tick emoji.
The former England international apologized to Tottenham supporters on Friday morning, saying that a member of his social media team had mistakenly posted the post.
“Good morning guys, I feel like I have to come and apologize on behalf of my social media team,” he explained.
“They just caught my attention, I literally just woke up, that someone thought we had won 3-0 last night.
“As sloppy as it sounds, it’s the truth. Posted ‘job done’.
“That is unacceptable and I am sure it has upset a lot of people and I am sorry that it came to that.
“Obviously it doesn’t come from me and I have nothing but love for the club and support for the team.
“I’m just as depressed as the guys, so sorry.”
