Championship recap: Norwich beat Forest but Farke asks to focus | Championship

Norwich maintained their dominance at the top of the Championship with a comfortable 2-0 win in Nottingham Forest. Teemu Pukki scored his 22nd league goal of the season and Kieran Dowell added a second before the break for Canarias to break a club record with their ninth straight league win.

Daniel Farke’s team extended their lead over second-placed Watford to 10 points with 10 games remaining, but the coach has asked his players to stay focused.

“When the games are intense and fast, you can forget what you’re doing, but we also have to experience the joy because nine wins in a row is exceptional,” Farke said.

“Maybe, in a few years, we can sit down with a glass of wine and remember how we have written some history and how we have done something really amazing. But now is not the time to be too proud of ourselves because we must stay focused.

“We still have some strong teams to play and you never know what might happen with the coronavirus situation, but I thought we were fantastic in this game.”

Barnsley maintained their play-off charge with a 3-1 win in Wycombe, despite the dismissal of the captain in the second half, Alex Mowatt. Reds forward Cauley Woodrow converted from point in added time at the end of the first half following Ryan Tafazolli’s challenge over Michal Helik. Daryl Dike headed Barnsley 2-0 up and, after Mowatt received a direct red card for his challenge on Scott Kashket, the loaned American added the second. Uche Ikpeazu scored Wycombe’s last solace.

Birmingham gave their hopes of survival a boost when Harlee Dean’s header secured a 2-1 home win against the play-off hopefuls Read in Lee Bowyer’s first game as manager of the Blues. Lukas Jutkiewicz led Birmingham to an early lead and while Reading tied through Yakou Méïté, Dean’s effort in the second half earned them three crucial points.

Jordy De Wijs headlined Queens park rangers‘late winner, as they fought back 2-0 against to beat Millwall 3-2 at Loftus Road. Millwall led 2-0 at halftime through Jed Wallace and Mason Bennett, but Charlie Austin led QPR again and, after Stefan Johansen tied, the Hull defender on loan, De Wijs, attacked in the final stages.

Black burn Y Bristol City drew 0-0 at Ewood Park, while Callum Paterson’s own goal denied Sheffield Wednesday victory in a 1-1 draw at home against Huddersfield. Josh Windass’s effort gave Wednesday a lead at halftime, but Town responded with a shot from Naby Sarr in the second half, which was deflected into Paterson. On Wednesday, nine points from last safe place, he stopped a seven-game losing streak.
