Legend status had long been secured for Tiger Roll, but the double Grand National winner joined the Cheltenham greats in recording a fifth festival hit, his third at the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase.
Tiger Roll ran with all his old enthusiasm at the head of the field under Keith Donoghue and walked away in the final stages.
Led by Gordon Elliott until a couple of weeks ago, the Denise Foster-trained Tiger Roll was getting its first hit since winning the 2019 Grand National.
Eddie O’Leary, racing manager for Gigginstown House Stud, revealed that he has no regrets about knocking Tiger Roll out of the Grand National in the latter stages of loss and confirmed that the Irish equivalent could be up for grabs at Fairyhouse.
He said, “You couldn’t put into words what that means. What a legend. What a bloody legend. It has no end. You couldn’t take it back after that. I’m delighted by the entire Cullentra team.” . It means the world to all of us. “
