TThe Government of Wales is going to start reopening people’s personal lives and economy as the coronavirus figures in Wales “continue to move in the right direction,” Prime Minister Mark Drakeford said.
People from two households will be able to meet in the gardens from Saturday, while hairdressers and barbers will be able to operate from Monday. Non-essential retail will begin to reopen from March 22.
Drakeford told BBC Radio 4’s Today program: “As long as things continue to go in the right direction, we hope to be able to reopen self-contained accommodation for the Easter period.”
He said that in many Welsh houses, people would have to go through the house to access the back garden, but “the idea is that you walk directly through the back door into the garden.”
“That will be a big step forward here in Wales, people have not been able to do that now for weeks and weeks,” he said.
“For many families, this will allow grandparents to see their grandchildren again and is a sign that with caution, care and step by step, we are now on the path of reopening Welsh society.”
