Prince William has said that his family is not racist and that he has yet to speak to his brother since Harry and Meghan’s explosive interview.
“We are not a racist family,” he said after a question from Sky News.
And when asked if he had already spoken to his brother, the Duke of Cambridge replied, “I have not spoken to him yet, but I plan to do so.”
William spoke during a visit to an east London school with the Duchess of Cambridge on Thursday morning.
The Sussexes made a series of shocking statements about their time as royalty during the two-hour interview with Oprah Winfey that aired in the UK on Monday night.
These included claims of racism in the palace and that the couple did not feel supported by the Royal Family.
Buckingham palace issued a rare statement in response to a promise to “address” the “troubling” allegations, particularly claims that another royal had raised “concerns” with Harry about Archie’s skin color before he was born.
The couple also made comments about William and Kate during the interview, which was viewed on ITV by more than 11 million viewers.
Prince Harry told Oprah that her brother and father are “trapped” as royalty as Meghan spoke about reports that she had made Kate cry before the royal wedding.
Meghan said the “opposite” happened and that it was Kate who made her cry.
She told Winfrey that she didn’t want to be “contemptuous of anyone” and claimed that Kate “owned it” and apologized with flowers and a note “to take responsibility”.
Prince Charles remained silent on his first public engagements since the Oprah revelations on Tuesday.
