The Duchess of Sussex claimed during her interview with Oprah Winfrey that the Duchess of Cambridge made her cry while planning the wedding, and not the other way around, as had been reported.
Megan Markle said in a highly successful interview that Kate Middleton brought her to tears during a discussion about the bridesmaid outfit her daughter, Princess Charlotte, would wear.
The incident was first reported in Tatler magazine, which claimed there had been a “dispute” over whether young bridesmaids should wear stockings to the Sussex wedding in 2018.
The Duchess of Cambridge felt they should do it, saying it was protocol, while the Duchess of Sussex reportedly did not want them to. In a rare statement, Kensington Palace denied the claims at the time.
“Everyone at the institution knew that this did not happen,” the Duchess of Sussex said during the explosive interview broadcast Sunday night in the United States. “What really happened? The other way around,” she told Winfrey.
“I am not sharing this to discredit her in any way. [Kate]She continued, “I hope she wants that to be corrected.”
