The Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is investigating a video circulating on social media that shows an individual believed to be a jockey sitting on a dead horse in what appears to be a gallop.

After the video circulated on social media Monday evening, the IHRB issued a statement on Twitter Tuesday morning that read: “The Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board is aware that more content is circulating in social media and the matter is under investigation. “

The video shows an injured horse on the ground and the individual involved moving to straddle the dead animal. It appears that the body was set to move when the video was recorded.

Three others are shown nearby and laughter can be heard after the individual sits on the horse. The individual then pats the horse while dismounting before the video ends.

The video comes just days after an image of lead coach Gordon Elliott sitting on a dead horse surfaced on social media.

Elliott later told the Racing Post that he had defrauded the racing industry, its owners and its staff with a “moment of indefensible insanity”, with the sport rallying to condemn his actions and the BHA banning him from having racers in Britain. while an investigation is being conducted. by the IHRB.

The IHRB has not confirmed a date for a hearing on Elliott’s case.
