Devon couple drive 250 miles to ‘hospital appointment’

Police sent a Devon couple “packing up” after traveling about 250 miles to Essex for a hospital appointment nine days earlier.

Police across the country have been very busy responding to the clear and flagrant violations of Covid-19 restrictions, imposing fines on violators who have had some very creative excuses.

According to Essex Live, the couple, who were sent back to the Southwest, were caught stopping to stay with the family in Benfleet.

Although an appointment was scheduled, records showed they weren’t supposed to be in the hospital for another nine days.

To combat violators of lockdown rules, Essex Police say officers will continue to take a “common sense approach” to government regulations. They will continue to interact with people, explain the regulations to them, and encourage them to do the right thing, Essex Live reports.

It comes after Tavistock police stressed that breaking Covid rules is not allowed, not even for a bit of cold slapping and tickling on the moors.

A pair of resilient souls seemed to have defied the shame of being cold and decided it would be acceptable to make love in the face of the current coronavirus lockdown.

However, they did not take into account the risk of coitus interruptus on the part of the Tavistock Police, charged with ensuring that government guidelines are followed.

They tweeted the warning at 2.17am on February 11, stating: “Fornicating under the stars, in the wastelands, may seem like the last romantic comedy this year, but it is not an essential trip and it certainly breaks social distancing guidelines” .

“Please continue to comply with Covid-19 legislation to help prevent the spread of Covid.”

According to the government website, under the current UK Covid-19 restrictions, you must stay home.

You should not travel, even abroad, unless you have a legally permissible reason to do so.

It is illegal to travel abroad for vacations and other leisure purposes.

Meanwhile, Essex Police also revealed how one guy decided to take an overnight trip to Southend to “see the sea” with his friends before they told him to go home.

He and his two friends were each fined and the car they were traveling in was impounded because it had no insurance.
