Among the first to congratulate the happy couple was James Middleton, brother of the Duchess of Cambridge, who called it “such wonderful news.”
The baby is the ninth great-grandson of the Queen and the first grandson of the Duke and Duchess of York.
He will be eleventh in line to the throne, pushing the Earl of Wessex to twelfth place, and his sons James, Viscount Severn and Lady Louise to thirteenth and fourteenth place, respectively.
The baby’s name will be released at a later date. The bookies had Arthur as the 3-1 favorite Tuesday night, followed by James, Oliver and Edward.
The little boy will be a second cousin of the three children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archie.
It is believed that they will spend their first few months as a family of three at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, having reached a private rental arrangement with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who retain the property as their UK base.
Frogmore is just a short drive from the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, home to the Duke and Duchess of York, ensuring ample access to their new grandson.
