Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool is not interested in the Premier League title fight at this point after another disappointment at Anfield.
The Reds lost their second straight home game in the top flight when they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night.
Steven Alzate’s shot in the 56th minute was enough for Liverpool, who had only one shot on goal, having gone almost six hours without a goal on their own ground.
Klopp’s side have slipped to fourth place and are now seven points behind leaders Manchester City, who have a game on their hands and will visit Anfield on Sunday.
And the Reds boss has stated that his team is now just focused on tackling a streak in a way that has seen them take just two points from their last four games at home.
“I’m the Liverpool manager and you always ask, as we were champions last year, and I have to say ‘Oh my God, we want to be champions, yes we do,'” Klopp said.
“But you need the games for it and you need the performances for it. And we don’t have them. That is also the truth.
“We have to fight for other things. We fight for the three points.
“It is not yet decided who will get the three points on Sunday. We have to play better and we will try too. Then we’ll see.

“These gaps are not interesting at the moment because they are the result of the results that we have already had.
“All we can influence now is the next games, and that is what we will try to do.
“Tonight, it wasn’t enough. We saw that and we know it. We have to change that. “
