Manchester United Players Ranking: Luke Shaw and Fred Good vs. Arsenal – Samuel Luckhurst

David De Gea

He handled the first half efforts of Alexandre Lacazette and David Luiz reliably. He saved well in the second half from Emile Smith Rowe. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

More present in the last third, although it had to be shot by Kieran McKenna. He made a Willian block to save the goal and crossed brilliantly for Cavani. 7

Victor lindelof

He received instructions from his coach in Norwegian in a corner. Calmer on defense than Harry Maguire and was not forced to foul. 7

Harry maguire

Crucial block to deny Nicolás Pepe early in the second half, but clumsy with his physique at times and was booked. 6

Luke shaw

A major improvement on Alex Telles and he could easily have claimed an assist when he found Marcus Rashford. Effectively one winger in the second half. 8

Scott McTominay

He was safe in midfield alongside Fred until injury forced him to retire before half-time. Of course I couldn’t continue well before that. 6

Fred

One of the main reasons behind United’s improvement and he almost cut back on his first goal of the season. Pressed and intercepted well. 7

Marcus rashford

He was beaten by Gabriel Martinelli and Cedric Soares, with the former substituted at the break. But their final product was poor. 4

Bruno fernandes

He always seemed capable of creating something out of nothing and a slightly more deflected free kick. He faded in the second half. 5

Paul pogba

Unsurprisingly, he became a lot more involved once he was called from the wing to be a partner Fred. It did not produce a game-changing moment. 6

Edinson cavani

He expressed dismay at the lack of direct service and occasionally went out of his way to get more involved. He should have scored from downtown Shaw and then downtown Wan-Bissaka. 5

Subs

Anthony Martial

He came into the first half for McTominay and was instantly alert. Engaged enough, yet ineffective. 6

Mason Greenwood

He replaced Rashford for the last 10 minutes. 5

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

His team selection was justified, as was moving Pogba to midfield. Should have sent Greenwood earlier. 6
