“There have not been many moments for us this season. The players are jumping and they have every right to do so. It has been a difficult season but I will bring them back to earth tomorrow. It is a great result and I am delighted with the players. because they have been through a lot.

“It’s a long time to look forward to a win at Old Trafford and it’s a special result, and a special performance. We have talked about great moments and this is one with a touch of luck with the winning goal.

“Phil Jagielka kept it all together. He’ll get a rocket for allowing Harry Mauire to score, but he held it together there. You have to block out the noise and get on with your work. We always show up. On more points, but we have to build on this.

“I’m not saying there is an incredible escape, but I want to show what it’s all about.”

Oliver Burke, who scored the winning goal for Sheffield United tonight, spoke to BT Sport about his goal and the team’s performance:

“Amazing result, it really was a must win for us and I’m happy for the guys, they made a big change. Amazing feeling and amazing for me to get the goal, I’m excited for the guys and I hope we can take that in our next games.

“We showed great courage and great determination. We show great character and we never stop, in every game we have shown great football but we haven’t won three points. “
