The alert, which covers most of the county, is in effect until 2 p.m. today, when the heavy snow swath moves east.
The weather service says that in addition to travel delays and the risk of vehicles being stranded, there are possible delays and cancellations on train and plane travel.
Rural communities could be isolated and there could be power outages.
Kent County Council Roads tweeted to say that all of their crews were clearing the roads around 5 a.m. in preparation.
The temperature will feel like a freeze of -5 ° C this morning, but it is set to warm this afternoon, with some periods of sunshine and highs of 7 ° C.
Snow is forecast for most of Kent, with the exception of the south coast and far east of the county, which means Thanet, Dover and Folkestone appear to miss the rains.
Earlier this week, Kent was hit by heavy rains that wreaked havoc across the county.
