A deputy has been arrested and charged with “reckless conduct” after an alleged violation of the coronavirus rules.
Margaret Ferrier, 60, was suspended from the Scottish National Party parliamentary group in September.
That was to travel from Glasgow to Westminster despite experiencing COVID-19 symptoms while awaiting a test result, and then making a return trip a few days later after being informed that it was positive.
The Metropolitan Police carried out an investigation and said it would take no further action, but referred the case to the Scottish Police.
On Monday, Scottish Police confirmed that a 60-year-old woman, allegedly Ferrier, was arrested and charged in connection with alleged reckless and guilty conduct.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “We can confirm that officers arrested and charged a 60-year-old woman today in connection with alleged reckless and guilty conduct.”
This follows a comprehensive investigation by the Scottish Police into a suspected breach of coronavirus regulations between September 26-29, 2020.
“A report will be sent to the prosecutor and we cannot comment further.”
A SNP spokesperson said: “Ms Ferrier remains suspended from the SNP and we will not comment further on live police procedures.”
