The Latest Greater Manchester Elementary Schools To Have Been Closed Due To Covid-19 Safety Fears – The Complete List

Thousands of primary school pupils are at home as Greater Manchester schools remain closed amid Covid fears.

Many children were due to return to school today after Christmas break, but it has not been possible for some after teachers followed the union’s advice to stay away.

It was over the weekend that union leaders held an emergency meeting and advised members that they had a ‘legal right’ not to show up for work due to health and safety concerns in light of the increase in coronavirus cases.

With teachers and school staff following that advice, many schools are unable to open, and some have told parents that children will be away for at least two weeks.

Those that are closed are providing places for key workers and vulnerable children, as they did during the first lockdown.

And some that were due to reopen later this week warn parents that they will remain closed.
