Jurgen Klopp “wishes” Liverpool were further ahead in the Premier League table, but believes the title race is very close this season due to “how difficult it is” for all teams.
The Reds are together on top in points with Manchester United, but ahead on goal difference, while Tottenham, Leicester City and Chelsea are very close with Man City also in touching distance with two games in hand.
“Last season was also very tough for us,” Klopp said when asked if this season is tougher than the previous one, which Liverpool won at a canter.
“It’s not that we thought it was easy, it was very tough and this year it’s tough again.
“We wish it wasn’t that close, but I’m not surprised it’s so close.”
“We have our situation and all the other clubs have their situation and our season is very good so far.
“No more, no less and we try to be prepared for each game.
“Now it is Southampton who will ask for different things, then Aston Villa and United and we have to be ready again. This season is difficult for the fans.
