PEOPLE HAVE TO BE ‘REALISTIC’ ABOUT CALLS TO DISPOSAL TESTS, SAYS JOHNSON
Boris Johnson said that people will have to be “realistic” about the impact of the novel coronavirus strain, amid calls from a large group of principals for the GCSE and A-level exams to be dropped this summer.
It comes amid chaos over plans to reopen schools this month due to the Covid-19 crisis and concerns about the fairness of exams that could take place.
When asked if the exams should be canceled, the Prime Minister told The Andrew Marr Show on BBC One: “We have to be realistic, we have to be realistic about the rate at which this new variant has spread, we have to be realistic about the impact it is having on our NHS, and we have to be humble about this virus. “
Most primary schools in England are scheduled to open on Monday, followed by a staggered start to secondary schools a week later, with GCSE and A-level pupils ready to return first.
