Stoke City 0-1 Bournemouth: Junior Stanislas ranks as late winner of Cherries in Potteries

Junior Stanislas scored the only goal of the game when Bournemouth shadowed Stoke City in a low-key championship game at the Potteries.

Forward Dominic Solanke had blown a similar opportunity in the first half when he was freed by another superb 60-yard fly pass from Cook.

The hasty Bursik did just enough to distract him, and while the Cherries’ top scorer did deliver a good chip with his right foot on him in the run, he gave the ball too much flight and hit the bar before passing.

But Stanislas showed how it should be done with a goal in the 79th minute that helped Bournemouth rebound from the defeat at Brentford, their first in six games.

That brought Jason Tindall’s team to third place, keeping them two points behind second-placed Swansea City and six points behind leader Norwich City.

Stoke, injured top scorer Tyrese Campbell, has dropped to eighth place, two points outside the play-off zone, after failing to score for the fourth time in six games.
