The vile fans launched sectarian abuses against the Celtic players as they exited the team bus to enter Ibrox for today’s tie.

Crowds of people gathered as the Hoops players reached the gates of the stadium on the south side of Glasgow.

Some members of the group could be heard shouting “Fenian shit” and “Papist shit” as the squad exited the vehicle.

Others launched more disgusting abuses like “gunge that paedo” and “f ***** g paedo c ** t”.

Police detained the group as Celtic players continued to exit the coach.

The scenes were in stark contrast to the unity displayed by the players on the field, as both sides of the Old Firm commemorated those who lost their lives in the Ibrox Stadium disaster.

The club captains, James Tavernier and Callum McGregor, took to the field wearing crowns in their club colors to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tragedy.

The Rangers and Celtic players donned black armbands as they observed a minute of silence to remind the 66 fans who did not return home after the 1971 disaster.

The fans and managers of both clubs also left their own tributes outside the stadium before the start of this afternoon.

The Rangers beat their rivals Glasgow 1-0 in the match.

Scottish police have been contacted for comment.
