Two men and a woman were rushed to hospital, while a woman has been detained.
During the violence, two men suffered stab wounds, while the female victim suffered a head injury.
The status of the three victims is unknown.
Police say they were called to the scene at 12:32 a.m. by the London Fire Brigade who reported a stabbing.
A team from London Air Ambulance also arrived to help treat the injured.
The video posted on social media shows numerous police vehicles and ambulances at the scene.
The incident unfolded at the intersection with Seymour Street.
A Section 60 warrant, giving police additional powers to stop and search, has been implemented across North Westminster.
On Twitter, Westminster Police said: “Section 60 has been cleared from 0117 to 06:00 by Insp HUGHES.
Authority is for North Westminster. This is due to a stabbing that occurred on Edgware Road. “
A user in the area posted a clip of the scene on Twitter, showing numerous police vehicles and at least one ambulance.
They commented: “What a great way to start 2021 #edgwareroad.”
Another Twitter user added: “Big stabbing on Edgware Road right now.”
A third added: “Edgware Road went crazy.”
Yet London has been battling an epidemic of knife crime in recent years.
The outage was confirmed by Jambuster’s Twitter account which monitors London traffic.
He tweeted: “A5 Edgware Road (W2 / W1H) (all directions) at the Seymour Street junction – The road is closed in both directions due to an emergency services incident.
