A total of 700 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Nottinghamshire in the past 24 hours, according to the latest government data.

They come just as Nottinghamshire and vast swathes of the country enter Level 4, following rising infection rates across most of the country.

Level 4 generally means that the rules are now similar to those imposed as part of the national shutdown in November, with all non-essential stores closed and travel outside of a locality is now prohibited.

Data released at 4 p.m. on December 31 shows that 700 new cases have been reported in the city and county, up from 623 recorded yesterday (December 30).

In Nottingham, 176 new cases have been reported, bringing the total to 19,978 since records began.

This was also higher than the 162 reported a day earlier.

In the county as a whole, there were 524 new cases, bringing their total to 30,956.

Ashfield’s cases continue to rise, with a total of 132 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, an increase from the previous day when there were 111 new cases.

Mansfield and Newark and Sherwood have now surpassed 4,000 cases since records began, over 80 new cases and 63 new cases respectively in the last 24 hours through Dec. 31.
