The new Prince Harry and Meghan podcast showcases a show that aims to put people to sleep.

The royal couple debuted their £ 30 million series Tuesday night, but Archewell Audio got off to a slower start than perhaps anticipated.

In the UK, the show ranked just 17th on the Spotify charts, below Deep Sleep Sound, which offers listeners a relaxing whale song.

It is designed to help parents and their babies fall asleep.

While reaching their teens can be a good fit for any new podcast offering, Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, are eager to make Archewell Audio a success.

In addition to high-end sound design, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have summoned their famous friends to participate.

In the first episode, the stars, including Elton John, James Corden, and George the Poet, talk about their experiences during the confinement.

As Wednesday dawned, the podcast was gaining some traction, coming in at ninth place on the UK charts.

In the United States, it went from 68 to 26.

For royal enthusiasts, a key moment in the first episode was the audio performance of Meghan and Harry’s son Archie.

The proud parents brought the one-year-old to the microphone and Harry said, “You can speak for him.”

Young Archie made a guest appearance on the podcast.

Meghan then asks, “Archie, is it funny?” and repeat the word “fun”.

The boy then copies his father to say “Happy New Year”, followed by a little laugh.

The little boy, who has spent much of his short life in the United States, has an American accent.

The podcast series and the amount of money involved in its production has caused some eyebrows to rise.

Royal sources have said that Buckingham Palace knew that Harry and Meghan had set up their own production company to produce podcasts, but were “not aware” of the sums involved.

A well-placed insider said: ‘The initial multi-year deal is worth more than £ 30 million with a view to extending the deal within six months.

“Meghan was the driving force behind the deal. She was amazing in meeting with the executives and had a clear vision of what they, as a couple, have to offer.

“There’s a lot of buzz about the content and the reach of not just Spotify but Harry and Meghan, now they have the midas touch.

“The whole business plan for Spotify is to acquire the world’s most talked about celebrities in one place, and Harry and Meghan are a perfect fit.

“It’s a win-win scenario.”
