The soccer match between Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham to be held later has been postponed following a COVID-19 outbreak.
The clash between the seventh and eighteenth Premier League teams should have been played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight at 6pm.
Earlier, José Mourinho expressed his frustration that his team did not know if their match against Fulham would go ahead.
Fulham returned a series of positive COVID tests on Tuesday and was in talks with the Premier League about whether the game would go ahead as planned.
The Premier League Board had the final say on whether the match would take place.
The match was the third in the English top flight to be postponed due to COVID-19 cases.
Earlier this month, Newcastle United’s trip to Aston Villa was canceled, along with Monday’s game between Everton and Manchester City.
Coronavirus outbreaks in English football clubs have repeatedly raised concerns about the possibility that the games could take place, with the last week yielded the most positive tests in Premier League clubs in a seven-day period, reflecting the sharp increase in infections across the country.
As of Tuesday, there were 18 positives out of 1,479 tests on players and club staff between Dec. 21-27, the Premier League said, prompting calls to suspend the competition as happened last season.
Cases of viruses have also been reported at Arsenal, where defender Gabriel is in isolation.
