Police launched a murder investigation after a teenager and his father were found dead in Bishopbriggs.
The talented 16-year-old Tony Thomas is believed to have been killed by his father Seweryn, 40, who later took his own life.
Detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the Dec. 23 tragedy, the Daily Record reports.
Paramedics were called to the family’s home on Grainger Road shortly after 4 p.m., but the two men were unable to save themselves.
Following the autopsies, the police confirmed that they had launched a murder investigation.
Tony was a talented student and planned to study law. Friends at his local kayak club described him as a “pioneer”.
A friend said, “What a positive impact Tony had on so many lives.”
A police source said: “It appears that Tony’s father killed him and then took his own life. It is really heartbreaking and tragic and nobody knows what it was about.”
“There was no indication of a problem prior to this.
“Mom, Eve, had just celebrated her birthday the day before and that she lost her son days before Christmas is especially heartbreaking.”
Seweryn is believed to have run his own carpentry business.
Originally from Poland, it was understood that he had lived in Glasgow with Eve and their son for over a decade.
Tony was super fit and a prominent member of his local kayak club.
A statement from the Glasgow Kayak Club Sprint and Marathon Team read: “Thank you for being part of the GKC family. You were the first member, the older brother, the pioneer.”
“While we are no longer fortunate enough to row alongside you, the memories you have given us will stay with us forever.
“What is sadness today will be pride tomorrow, as we smile and remember our friend Tony.”
Another friend wrote: “What a positive impact Tony had on so many lives when he went from boy to young man.
“Soft by nature, motivated, smiling and always a great ambassador for Scottish Sprint rowing.”
Another club member said, “What a lovely boy, sending love to Eve and all those affected by this terrible loss. Rest in peace Tony.”
A police spokesman said: “A 16-year-old and a 40-year-old man were found dead inside a home on Grainger Road, Bishopbriggs.
“Autopsies have been performed and the police have launched a murder investigation.”
