José Mourinho criticized his Tottenham for showing no ambition to take advantage of their initial advantage in the 1-1 draw against Wolves.
The Spurs went ahead through Tanguy Ndombele after just 57 seconds, but then, just as they did at Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, they pulled out en masse and couldn’t see the game over.
The relentless pressure from the Wolves finally paid off in the 86th minute when Romain Saiss headed home with a deserved draw from the corner.
The performance and the result, which meant the Spurs were unable to make up ground at the top of the table, will ensure their approach comes under scrutiny as they shot points from a winning position for the fourth time this season.
The victory would have brought Spurs in third place, four points behind leader Liverpool, but they showed no desire to increase their opening goal.

Mourinho said: “We are frustrated with the result. We were in control of the game, but we had 89 minutes to score more goals and we didn’t.
“It wasn’t just about not scoring goals, it was also about not being dangerous and not being ambitious. For me, that’s the problem.
“Of course, we can go back to a corner. We can say that in Liverpool we should win and we lost with a corner. We can say that here we should win and draw with a corner.
“We can say against Palace that we should win and draw with a free kick. It could even go to previous matches.
“But I don’t think it’s very obvious to go in that direction and not go in other directions. The other direction for me is that you score a goal in the first minute, you have 89 minutes to score more goals and we don’t. “
The Spurs have now dropped eight points from winning positions this season as they have had to settle for draws against Newcastle, West Ham, Palace and now Wolves after conceding goals in the final 10 minutes.
Mourinho said his team should do more to kill games.
“Of course it is a concern, but it is more worrying that we score goals early and not win games,” he added.
“Of course against Liverpool it was about the post not wanting us to win a game. But against Palace, for example, when scoring a goal early, you have to score (another goal).
“It’s as simple as that. We defend very well as a team, it’s enough. It could be enough. If we don’t concede that last corner, we won 1-0 and they would be asking me different questions.
“But my feeling would be exactly the same.”
The Wolves were worth their point and might even have snatched a winning goal if Fabio Silva hadn’t missed a late header.
It was the second straight home game they have come from behind to take something, after beating Chelsea last time, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo was proud of his team.
“It’s a mix of everything. It’s not just about being fit, ”he said. “It has a lot to do with the faith and the spirit of the boys. Today was very difficult for them and the next game we will clearly have problems because the effort was enormous.
“After the first minute we fit in, every action by our players was very intense, very aggressive.
“It requires a big heart, the desire to do things to help the team. This is our spirit and we want to continue like this. Even at the last minute, we had a good chance. That’s why we always want to stay and make things happen until the last whistle of the referee.
