MRS Brown’s Boys actor Gary Hollywood has revealed that he is taking legal action against show creator Brendan O’Carroll.
The 41-year-old has alleged that he was “treated unfairly” while working as Dino Doyle on the BBC program.
When filing paperwork for a court, Gary claimed he was paid less than his co-stars for the spinoff show All Round To Mrs Brown’s, and was fired from a holiday special after filing a complaint.
He told the Daily Star: “I feel like they didn’t pay me equally and they didn’t give me an explanation for the decisions.
“When I tried to figure it out, nothing was done. I was simply ignored. But I won’t take it anymore. They won’t treat me like that. This has gone too far. They shouldn’t do this to people. “
Gary stepped down as Dino earlier this year, and the show’s creator and star Brendan insisted they were on good terms at the time.
By insisting that he is not a “greedy person”, Gary says that he “just wants the truth” and be compensated for the time he was not paid fairly.
Brendan signed a massive new deal with the BBC, which will see him create Mrs Brown’s Boys holiday specials for the channel through 2026.
There is even a clause that guarantees that the BBC must show Irish comedy at 10pm on Christmas Day, the most coveted space on British television.
And Brendan shared how excited he is to make households across the UK and Ireland laugh with his foul-mouthed comedy series, particularly after a difficult 2020.
The star faced his own difficulties after losing his sister Fiona in March, days before the Covid-19 pandemic swept the world, but says he is delighted to end the year on a positive note.
