A large explosion in downtown Nashville smashed windows and shook the ground on Christmas morning.
The explosion occurred at 6.30 am local time. There are unconfirmed reports that it came from a motor home parked on 2nd Avenue between Church Street and Commerce Street, an area where there are bars, restaurants, retailers and apartments, and that it was ‘an intentional act’.
No serious injuries have been reported.
The FBI and ATF are on the scene along with local fire and police departments.

According to local reports, “tremors” were felt throughout the city. A report claimed the explosion came from a motor home, but authorities have yet to verify that detail. Metro Nashville police said the blast was “linked” to a vehicle, but did not provide other details.
The explosion occurred directly outside a multipurpose building that sits along the Cumberland River.
The explosion caused damage to downtown buildings including broken windows, but no injuries or serious damage have been reported.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been called in to assist with the investigation.
‘There is an incident involving an explosion. This is an active scene. The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department and the Nashville Fire Department are on the scene.
“There are no additional details to provide at this time,” the Nashville Fire Department said in a statement.
WKRN quoted officials as saying the blast did not appear suspicious.
Within minutes of the blast, social media lit up with people reporting they felt it and the ground ‘shaking’.
